Venom star Tom Hardy becomes Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine successor in a new fan edit for the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Although fans will see Tom Hardy return with his symbiote in the Andy Serkis-directed Venom sequel, this artwork depicts the actor succeeding Hugh Jackman as Wolverine for Marvel Studios. There have been a number of actors suggested by fans for the role that includes Shia LaBeouf, Keanu Reeves and Antony Starr. While it seems very unlikely that Tom Hardy would swap playing one Marvel character for another, it’s also not that far fetched, especially when Jamie Foxx is returning as Electro for Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 3.
The concept comes from a digital artist known as ‘get2dacopra’ on Instagram, and gives Tom Hardy the classic yellow and black costume with a red utility belt. Since Hugh Jackman never got to wear the costume in live-action, most are hoping that Marvel will introduce a version of the suit whenever mutants are finally brought into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The Wolverine artwork also gives Hardy the characters distinguishing facial hair, alongside those very important Adamantium claws. You can see Tom Hardy as Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine replacement below.

Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige confirmed plans to include mutants in the Marvel Cinematic Universe during last year’s San Diego Comic-Con. However, the studio is reportedly in no rush to introduce the X-Men to the MCU, meaning it will likely be some time before we learn who will replace Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.
