Venom 2 star Tom Hardy shared a behind-the-scenes photo to mark the first day of filming on the movie.

While Venom may not have received the most positive reviews from critics, the Tom Hardy movie proved to be a success with audiences and launched Sony’s Universe of Marvel Characters. It wasn’t long before a Venom sequel was officially put in development and it appears Tom Hardy has now begun filming the highly-anticipated movie.

In a since-deleted post on his Instagram account, Tom Hardy can be seen sitting in the makeup room of Venom 2. In the caption included with the photo, Tom Hardy appeared to confirm that Venom 2 has officially begun its first day of filming, writing, “W3’R’V3NOM2 day one.”

Directed by Andy Serkis from a script written by Kelly Marcel, Venom 2 stars Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock, Michelle Williams as Anne Weying, and Woody Harrelson as Carnage. No Time to Die star Naomie Harris was recently reported to be in talks for the role of Shriek.

It is widely believed that Venom 2 is the untitled Marvel project Sony has slated for release on October 2, 2020. In the meantime, fans can turn to all home media formats to re-watch Tom Hardy’s first Venom movie:
