Sony announced Tom Hardy’s Venom: Let There Be Carnage will be moving from its summer release date to September.

As vaccines start to reach more people in the United States, movie studios now have a better idea for when their big blockbusters can finally hit theaters. The recent opening of movie theaters in New York City and Los Angeles certainly helps as well. Sony might’ve pushed Morbius to 2022, but some believed Tom Hardy’s Venom: Let There Be Carnage might stick to its summer release date.

Sony has yet to release a trailer for Venom: Let There Be Carnage, and that’s because the studio is delaying the film once again. On Wednesday, Sony announced the Tom Hardy-led film will move from June 25, 2021 to September 17, 2021. The film will be released in 3D, IMAX, and other premium large formats.

Here is the synopsis for the first Venom film:

The evolution story of Marvel’s most enigmatic, complex and badass character – Venom! Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy) is a broken man after he loses everything including his job and fiancée. Just when his life is at its lowest, he becomes host to an alien symbiote which results in extraordinary superpowers – transforming him into Venom. Will these powers be enough for this new lethal protector to defeat great evil forces, especially against the far stronger and more weaponized symbiote rival, Riot?

Directed by Ruben Fleischer from a script written by Jeff Pinkner & Scott Rosenberg and Kelly Marcel, Venom stars Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed, Scott Haze, Reid Scott, Jenny Slate, Ron Cephas Jones, and Woody Harrelson.
