Spider-Man: Homecoming star Tom Holland wants Spider-Man to meet Captain America (again). With Marvel already confirming that the Homecoming sequel will have even more MCU ties, Holland is already pushing for a Captain America appearance.
Throughout Spider-Man Homecoming, Peter Parker is heavily influenced by Tony Stark. Iron Man plays a vital part in Spider-Man’s journey. Will another hero play a similar role in a future film? In a fan Q&A with IMDb, Holland chose Captain America for that mentor role, saying:
“He would be the best mentor I think. He’d be kind of boring. He’d be very strict, I think. But starting with him would be more freeing.”
After Spidey’s brief encounter with the first Avenger in Captain America: Civil War – I’m sure fans want to see how their relationship develops. Captain America is already a mentor to Peter Parker (sort of). He appears in several public service announcements throughout the film. That has to count for something, right? Spider-Man will likely cross paths with Cap in Avengers: Infinity War. Hopefully, they form some kind of friendship.
Directed by Jon Watts, Spider-Man: Homecoming stars Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon Donald Glover, Laura Harrier, Tony Revolori, Marisa Tomei, Jon Farveau and Robert Downey Jr. Here’s the official synopsis:
A young Peter Parker (Tom Holland), who made his sensational debut in Captain America: Civil War, begins to navigate his newfound identity as the web-slinging super hero in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Thrilled by his experience with the Avengers, Peter returns home, where he lives with his Aunt May (Marisa Tomei), under the watchful eye of his new mentor Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.). Peter tries to fall back into his normal daily routine – distracted by thoughts of proving himself to be more than just your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man – but when the Vulture (Michael Keaton) emerges as a new villain, everything that Peter holds most important will be threatened.
Spider-Man Homecoming is in theaters now.
