DC’s Legends of Tomorrow (CW)
Return Date: Thursday October 13th
Show Synopsis: After the defeat of the immortal villain Vandal Savage and the corrupt Time Masters who colluded with him, a new threat emerges. Dr. Nate Heywood, an unconventional and charming historian, is thrust into the action upon making a shocking discovery – the Legends are scattered throughout time.
Nate must find a way to rescue season one’s beloved team of heroes and rogues, including billionaire inventor Ray Palmer, who has created an exo-suit with the power to shrink him to miniscule size, as the Atom; Sara Lance, the White Canary, a trained assassin; Professor Martin Stein and Jefferson “Jax” Jackson, who together form the meta-human Firestorm; and Mick Rory, aka Heat Wave, a career criminal. When the Legends encounter the J.S.A (the Justice Society of America, the precursor to DC’s Justice League) in the 1940s, Amaya Jiwe, aka Vixen, joins the team. While the team reunites, a mystery looms – the fate of former captain Rip Hunter.
Once reunited, the Legends continue their new mission to protect the timeline from temporal aberrations – unusual changes to history that spawn potentially catastrophic consequences. When Nate, the grandson of J.S.A. member Commander Steel, unexpectedly finds himself with powers, he must overcome his own insecurities and find the hero within himself. Ultimately, the Legends will clash with foes both past and present, to save the world from a mysterious new threat.
Main Cast: Victor Garber (Martin Stein/Firestorm), Brandon Routh (Ray Palmer/The Atom), Arthur Darvill (Rip Hunter), Caity Lotz (Sara Lance/The White Canary), Franz Drameh (Jefferson ‘Jax’ Jackson/Firestorm), Dominic Purcell (Mick Rory/Heatwave), Maisie Richardson-Sellers (Amaya Jiwe/Vixen), Nick Zano (Nate Heywood/Citizen Steel), Matt Letscher (Eobard Thawne/Reverse Flash)
Last Season Finale: Rip returns the team to 2016, unwilling to let them continue with his mission, but they insist on seeing it through. Kendra leaves a message for the team alerting them to Savage’s presence in 1944 France, but they are unable to stop him and can rescue only Scythian. Savage reveals that the Thanagarians sent three meteors to ancient Egypt. He plans to use Kendra’s and Scythian’s blood to activate the meteors’ alien technology and erase time back to 1700 BC, where he will rule. Dr. Stein deduces Savage’s method: to conduct the same ritual across three separate time periods, creating a paradox that will facilitate time’s destruction. He also concludes that radiation from all three meteors will render Savage mortal, so anyone can kill him. The team breaks up into pairs—Mick and Ray, Sara and Firestorm, and Rip and Scythian—and travel to 1958, 1975, and 2021, respectively. All three groups kill Savage. Ray and Firestorm destroy their meteors, and Rip uses the Waverider to send the last meteor into the sun before it explodes and destroys the Earth. Kendra and Scythian stay behind to defend in 2016 while the others decide to help Rip protect the timeline. Before they leave 2016, however, Rex Tyler arrives in a future version of the Waverider and warns the team of their impending death.
What to Expect in Season 2: It’s been confirmed that Season 2 will feature 2 iconic teams from DC comics, the Justice Society of America (who episode 2 is named after) and the Legion of Doom. The Legion of Doom will consist of Malcolm Merlyn/The Dark Archer, Leonard Smart/Captain Cold, Eobard Thawne/Reverse Flash and Damien Darhk and serve as the main villains of the show’s 13 episode season. Both Oliver Queen and Jonah Hex will make appearances in the series, with it being confirmed Oliver will be in the season premier, entitled Out of Time. Legends will also partake in the 4-part crossover with Arrow, Flash and Supergirl.
