Tyrese Gibson Asks The Rock To Avoid ‘Fast & Furious’ Spinoff

Gal Gadot Chris Evans Academy Fast Furious Tyrese The Rock Dwayne JohnsonComing off the well-received chemistry of Dwayne Johnson’s Luke Hobbs and Jason Statham’s Deckard Shaw in The Fate of the Furious, a spinoff film featuring the two megastars was reportedly in development, much to the dismay of some of their costars. The spinoff was apparently one of the reasons for the reported tension on set between Vin Diesel and Dwayne Johnson, and now Tyrese Gibson has given his opinions on the possibility of a Hobbs spinoff.

Gibson took to Instagram on Sunday in a string of since deleted posts discussing his thoughts on the spinoff. The posts came in response to Dwayne Johnson posting a photo of himself looking over some documents, which some speculated was a deal for the Hobbs solo film. Gibson responded with a post calling out his Fast and Furious costar for not responding to messages he’d sent:

“If you move forward with that #Hobbs Movie you will have purposely ignored the heart to heart moment we had in my sprinter, I don’t wanna hear from you until you remember what we talked about. I’m on your timeline cause you’re not responding to my texts messages. #FastFamily is just that a family……We don’t fly solo.”

Then things got even more serious today when Gibson went after The Rock again after still not hearing back from Johnson, citing that the Hobbs spinoff film may conflict with the production of Fast and Furious 9:

“I want you to shoot it just not right now cause the #Fast9 release date has already been announced and we can’t let our loyal fans #FastFamily or our loyal fast and furious FANS down on any level from pushing the date.”

Universal has already set Fast and Furious 9 for release on April 19, 2019, with the tenth installment slated to hit theaters on April 2, 2021. Stay tuned to Heroic Hollywood for the latest news on the Fast franchise as we learn it.
