The ‘Uncharted’ Movie Has Just Gotten A Great Sign

A movie based on Naughty Dog‘s most popular video game franchises, Uncharted, has been being worked on since 2008. Nathan Fillion was rumored to be the main character, Nathan Drake, until he dropped out. Next was Mark Wahlberg, but he dropped out a few years ago. That kind of sealed the deal on it being over. Until Sony surprised us this summer with the announcement that they would be restarting it!

Yesterday, Joe Carnahan the screenwriter of The Grey and director of the upcoming Bad Boys sequel, took to Instagram to announce that he has completed his script for Uncharted. He wrote, “Done and Dusted, Now the REAL work begins. If there’s a more monstrously cool action script in Hollywood right now, I wanna read it, ‘cuz this thing is a BEAST.” Down below is his Instagram photo.

Now that the script is finished, castings are going to start to begin. Many fans would like to see a big star play Nathan Drake, but Luke Macfarlane would be a perfect choice. He isn’t known all that well, but in the Hallmark movies that he has been in, he already acts like Nathan Drake. He also looks a lot like him as well.

Another good choice would be Captain America himself, Chris Evans. It would definitely widen Evans’ acting ability if he’d be able to pull off a character like Drake, a thief. He’s clearly in shape enough, if actually holding a helicopter and part of a building at the same time, in Captain America: Civil War, doesn’t prove it to you… nothing will!

Rumor has it that the movie might be based off of the first installment in the gaming franchise, Drake’s Fortune. That games makes it clear that Uncharted is kind of a modern day Indiana Jones. So hopefully they keep that aspect that all of the games have had. If they do Drake’s Fortune, or create a new story.

The movie as been rumored for late 2017, but early-mid 2018 sounds more likely. Shawn Levy will direct the film.
