Universal’s upcoming classic monster universe could be adding another major Hollywood talent. Javier Bardem is in talks to take on the role of Frankenstein within the evolving universe.
It was clarified that Bardem would be playing the monster Frankenstein, not the character of Victor.
To be clear, he would be playing the monster in some form not Victor

If Bardem joins this universe, he would likely appear before his own feature film. Universal is currently working on a “Bride of Frankenstein” movie. Angelina Jolie is also being courted for Frankenstein.
The Mummy will be the first movie from this extended classic monster universe to be released. The Mummy will be released June 9, 2017 and is being directed by Alex Kurtzman and starring Tom Cruise, Sofia Boutella, Anabella Wallis, Jake Johnson and Russell Crowe.
Universal has also released an official synopsis for the reboot.
Thought safely entombed in a crypt deep beneath the unforgiving desert, an ancient queen (Sofia Boutella of Kingsman: The Secret Service and Star Trek Beyond) whose destiny was unjustly taken from her, is awakened in our current day, bringing with her malevolence grown over millennia and terrors that defy human comprehension.
From the sweeping sands of the Middle East through hidden labyrinths under modern-day London, The Mummy brings a surprising intensity and balance of wonder and thrills in an imaginative new take that ushers in a new world of gods and monsters.
Also in the works from Universal are Van Helsing, The Wolfman and Dracula.
