If audiences thought that 2017 would be the biggest year in the comic book movie renaissance, 2018 is already gearing up to take the throne. One of the most intriguing comic book films coming out next year is Ruben Fleischer’s Venom starring Tom Hardy.
Although the film is currently undergoing principal photography, official promotional material has already surfaced at CCXP in Brazil. The banners and poster gives fans a first-look at the potential logo for the upcoming film.

Venom has been in development at Sony Pictures for years, even during the era in which Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy reigned supreme. The fan-favorite Spidey villain made his big screen debut in the heavily-maligned Spider-Man 3, where he was played by Topher Grace.
While Grace’s performance as Eddie Brock was not acclaimed by any stretch of the imagination, fans still expressed hope in seeing a proper iteration of Venom on the big screen.
Venom will be the first film in Sony’s Marvel universe and will be followed by Silver and Black. Sony’s films are separate to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which means it’s highly unlikely that Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock will be swinging alongside Spider-Man anytime soon.
The film is expected to be an origin film, with the two principal characters being Venom and Carnage. The film is being directed by Ruben Fleisher and also stars Riz Ahmed and Michelle Williams.
Venom hits theatres on October 5, 2018.
