Extensive ‘Venom’ Footage Screened At CineEurope During Sony Presentation

Venom Tom Hardy Sony MarvelSony Pictures screened some brand new footage from their highly-anticipated Marvel Comics adaptation, Venom during their presentation at the 2018 CineEurope convention.

According to THR, the Venom footage was “extensive” with Sony’s president of international distribution Steven O’Dell describing the Ruben Fleischer-directed film as one of Sony’s “most exciting projects in the years,” citing that “the most chaotic and unpredictable Marvel character finally got his own film.”

So far, Sony Pictures has released two trailers for Venom. The initial teaser left many fans scratching their heads, particularly at the lack of showing Venom in his full glory and had many worried that the film itself will not feature the chaotic character enough to satisfy the audience – similar to how Topher Grace’s take on the character was underutilized in Spider-Man 3.

However, the first full trailer for the film gave audiences some more insight into the story as well as how Tom Hardy will bring Eddie Brock to life for a newer audience. Not to mention, the reveal of how Venom will look like in action left fans intrigued to see if Fleischer, Hardy and the rest of the cast and crew succeed with this film.

Here is the synopsis for Venom:

One of Marvel’s most enigmatic, complex and badass characters comes to the big screen, starring Academy Award® nominated actor Tom Hardy as the lethal protector Venom.
Directed by Ruben Fleischer and written by Scott Rosenberg, Jeff Pinkner and Kelly Marcel, Venom stars Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock, Michelle Williams, Scott Haze, Jenny Slate and Riz Ahmed, with Woody Harrelson.

Venom is set to hit theaters on October 5, 2018.
