New Line Cinema has acquired the film rights to titles published under DC Comics imprint Vertigo, according to Deadline. Warner Bros. has their work cut out for them with a slate of ten movies that includes mainstream DC properties such as Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, The Flash, etc. and two-part Justice League films. Vertigo titles are considered subversive to the comic book movie genre and would benefit the studio to be done under their New Line division headed by Toby Emmerich and Richard Brener.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt is set to direct and star in an adaptation of Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman. Perhaps that will launch New Line’s Vertigo franchise. Other titles that fall under the Vertigo banner include Constantine, Preacher, Dark Universe, and Preacher.
Are you excited about the possibility of New Line revving up production on Vertigo titles? Are you happy just sticking to the traditional DC movies? Are Vertigo titles not your cup of tea? Sound off in the comments below!
