The Walking Dead cast and crew had a pool party for Andrew Lincoln to celebrate his last day on set.
Cooper Andrews, who plays Jerry on the pop-culture juggernaut of a show, revealed in an interview with Comicbook.com that the entire cast had a pool party to say bonvoyage to Walking Dead’s leading man, Andrew Lincoln.
“We did. I hope that’s not a secret, but we did,…It was a nice pool party. We got to see cast imitating other cast! But it was just a nice farewell and a big ‘thank you’ day for him.”
Andrews goes on to note that the party itself was an event to be remembered, it was not without it’s bittersweet overtones. Lincoln will clearly be missed and Andrews was kind enough to relate what Lincoln’s presence on the set meant to all. Andrews notes that he was a boom operator on the show before taking his role as Jerry on the show and said that Lincoln would always walk over to the prop table to get ready for his scene, sparing the effort the prop organizers.
“From the crew side, he’s the guy that would run up from where we’re shooting to the 100 yards or 50 yards to where the props table is. And he would prop himself up, and then come back, instead of waiting for them to come to him. He was proactive, he was the one that got the day moving.”
Andrews then went on to elaborate that Lincoln’s work ethic was infectious and that it set the tone for the entire cast and crew. He reports that because of this, other members of the cast and crew would do their damnedest to live up to his standard and that his very presence contributed to making the show what it is today.
“He’s the kind of actor that the first day, is super-happy to have as his number-one. So that means, for any new cast that comes in, we welcome them as he would. He just gave us all an example that we have to set. And as far as the story goes, I really feel like the characters are kind of in that same light, that they’re all doing what … with him being gone from the set, these characters are trying to do, or trying to honor, what he’s done.
