The Walking Dead’s Andrew Lincoln has his sights set on a Galaxy Far, Far Away, as the actor for the long-running zombie show has stated that he wants to be in a Star Wars movie eventually.
Speaking on The Walking Dead‘s aftershow The Talking Dead, the Rick Grimes actor noted that since he never got a role in the Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings franchises, he feels as though he might have a shot at a Star Wars role:
“I may have been a cheese maker. Or a pig farmer, but [The Governor actor] Dave Morrissey and I… We used to sort of joke that we were the only actors in British Equity that hadn’t been in the Harry Potter franchise, so maybe I would have been wizarding about Hogwarts or hobbit-ing about Middle Earth, and I always fancied the idea of getting my hands around a lightsaber.”
Disney and Lucasfilm have plans to keep doing Star Wars for a long, long time — so it’s not exactly impossible to imagine that Lincoln will eventually get his wish to jump from the Walking Dead-verse to a much more hopeful and colorful setting.
The Walking Dead airs on Sunday nights. The show stars Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus, Lauren Cohan, Chandler Riggs, Danai Gurira, Melissa McBride, Lennie James, Sonequa Martin-Green, Alanna Masterson, Christian Serratos, Josh McDermitt, Seth Gilliam, Ross Marquand, Austin Nichols, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Tom Payne, Austin Amelio, Xander Berkeley, Pollyanna McIntosh, Steven Ogg, and Katelyn Nacon.
8 ‘Star Wars’ Spin-Off Movies We Really Want To See
May the 4th be with you, everyone! Even on May the 8th! With Star Wars weekend in the rear-view mirror, it’s still a great time to kick back, get out your old glow-in-the-dark lightsaber toys and Darth Vader Halloween masks, and pop in those original trilogy DVDs. Maybe even all 8 currently-released films, if you’re up for the challenge (both mental and otherwise). Speaking of which, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story just came out on Blu-ray, marking the first home release of many Star Wars spin-off movies to come.
Of these, only one future title has been confirmed – Han Solo: A Star Wars Story, to be released in May of 2018. Beyond that, we know Disney had at least two more planned, and probably more down the line. And why not? The Star Wars universe is so ripe for exploration. There are so many characters we were introduced to in the Saga movies that could easily get their own film. And it doesn’t stop there. The legacy of the Jedi and the Sith go back thousands of years, opening up virtually endless possibilities of story material.
Given this abundance of material just waiting to be tapped into, Heroic Hollywood decided to celebrate the Star Wars holiday by compiling a list of the Star Wars stand-alone movies we’d most like to see. While some of the films on this list are more likely to be developed than others, they each share one unifying factor: they’d all be freakin’ awesome!
