‘The Walking Dead’: Sonequa Martin-Green On Sasha’s Fate

Walking Dead
The Walking Dead fans know all to well that they must be prepared for any character on the series to meet their demise without warning. However, occasionally a star on the series lands a new role that immediately signals the imminent death of their character in the eyes of fans. This was the case when it was announced that Sonequa Martin-Green, who plays Sasha, had landed the lead role on the CBS All Access series Star Trek: Discovery. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Sonequa Martin-Green addressed fan concerns about Sasha’s future on the series.

Sonequa Martin-Green would not confirm Sasha’s fate, but said that regardless of what happens, the story will be strong.

“Well, I can’t say anything. I can say that the story is as impactful and powerful and dynamic as it always has been, and there’s nothing to worry about where that’s concerned.”

Showrunner Scott Gimple was confident that Sonequa Martin-Green would be capable of managing the shooting schedules of both shows if required.

“Sonequa Martin-Green can do anything. I’ve seen her battle a horde of walkers this year while simultaneously battling a stomach flu that would have had most people crying in the dirt. She can fulfill the duties of a Lieutenant Commander on a Constitution-class starship whilst battling walkers, Saviors, and whatever gets in Sasha’s way.  We’ve had to juggle before. I will certainly juggle for Star Trek any day of the week. Okay, maybe not on Sunday.”

If Sonequa Martin-Green’s role on Star Trek: Discovery does prevent her from returning to The Walking Dead, fans may not necessarily have to be worried that Sasha will be killed. After recurring guest star Corey Hawkins landed a role on 24: Legacy, his character named Heath was written off by having him mysteriously disappear in order to facilitate a potential return.

The Walking Dead returns with new episodes on February 12, 2017 on AMC.
