The season finale of The Flash Season 3 ended with Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) bidding farewell to his friends and family before stepping into the Speed Force. Before he left to stabilize the Speed Force, Barry assured his team that Central City would still have a Flash in Wally West a.k.a. Kid Flash (Keiynan Lonsdale). While we don’t know much about Season 4, other than that they are currently casting the main baddie Clifford DeVoe a.k.a. the Thinker, we now know one new detail about Wally’s arc.
Lonsdale recently chatted with Newsweek about his career with his music, the CW series and more. At one point he discussed whether or not Wally would take on the mantle as The Flash in the next season. While it’s something that he is open for, Lonsdale stated that Season 4 will not open up with Wally now being The Flash, expressing how the journey to that still has a long way to go.
“It’s not something that’s on my radar. I feel as though there is so much story to tell and Wally has so much growing to do. I’d like to see that journey continue. That’s what I think is important. We need to see how these character realistically get to where they are headed for.”
In the Flash mythology, Wally has been one of the people to take on the title as The Flash. But given that the live-action of Wally just became Kid Flash in the recent season, it would definitely be a little early for him to take on that title. Season 4 of the CW hit series is set to start production sometime in July which means that we’ll have more details about the upcoming season at San Diego Comic-Con.
The Flash Season 4 is set to premiere on Tuesday, October 10 at 8/7c on The CW.
