Warner Bros. Debuts The First Trailer For Jeff Nichols’ ‘Midnight Special’

Warner Bros. has just released the first trailer for Jeff Nichols’ upcoming sci-fi thriller Midnight Special. The film stars Michael Shannon (Man Of Steel) as a father who goes on the run from relgious extremists and law enforcement in an attempt to protect his young son and to learn the truth about the boy’s special abilities. This is definitely an interesting looking one that touches on how the world would react if someone exhibited these types of special abilites. I might even go as far as saying it feels like a Superman story that was done with a heavier sci-fi influence. Check out the trailer below and let us know if you’ll be adding this to your “to see” list.

In the sci-fi thriller “Midnight Special,” writer/director Jeff Nichols proves again that he is one of the most compelling storytellers of our time, as a father (Michael Shannon), goes on the run to protect his young son, Alton (Jaeden Lieberher), and uncover the truth behind the boy’s special powers.

What starts as a race from religious extremists and local law enforcement quickly escalates to a nationwide manhunt involving the highest levels of the Federal Government. Ultimately his father risks everything to protect Alton and help fulfill a destiny that could change the world forever, in this genre–defying film as supernatural as it is intimately human.

Midnight Special hits theaters March 18, 2016.
