There’s a reason the action in the first John Wick movie was lauded by audience members and critics alike, and it’s because the right amount of effort was put in from everyone involved, which, of course includes the man himself, Keanu Reeves.
With expectations high for the action set to feature in the newly revealed sequel, John Wick: Chapter 2, it’s understandable that Reeves might want to show off just exactly what he’s putting into the role with regards to his training, and in the case of this video we’re specifically talking tactical weapons training with Aaron Cohen, a former Special Ops officer who now spends his time as a tactical weapons trainer for Hollywood stars.
You can view the video below:
In the video description, Cherries Covert Ops Apparel (who uploaded the clip) explain exactly how the training took place, along with what gear was used:
Training consisted of over 3 weeks of pre-production tactical firearms prep. Specific gear and tactics included concealed draw training with Cohen’s newly released Cherries Below-The-Waistband Deep Concealment Holster, and over 40 hours of carbine combined with limited penetration room clearing.
The description also goes on to explain Cohen’s further involvement in Reeves’ training:
Cohen was part of a tactical training team selected to train Reeves which included Judo, Ju-Jitsu, Krav Maga, boxing, 3-gun and more.
Keanu Reeves is set to return to the big screen as the title character in John Wick: Chapter 2 on February 10, 2017.
Keanu Reeves returns in the sequel to the 2014 hit as legendary hitman John Wick who is forced to back out of retirement by a former associate plotting to seize control of a shadowy international assassins’ guild. Bound by a blood oath to help him, John travels to Rome where he squares off against some of the world’s deadliest killers.
