The last time Wesley Snipes played Marvel’s Vampire Hunter was nearly 12 years ago in Blade: Trinity. With Marvel getting the rights back and rumors circulating that Snipes was set to reprise his role, it left fans wondering what was next for Blade. Today during an interview at SDCC Wesley Snipes shed some light on the future of Blade.

When asked if he would be bringing the Vampire Hunter back Snipes said the following

The project is controlled by Marvel and we did have a really productive and a wonderful meeting and we discussed a number of things. I don’t know where it’s on their schedule at this point, that hasn’t been decided. I guess it’s still up in the air.

While it’s great to hear he’s talking with Marvel about returning some of you might think he’s too old to play Blade. If you’re one of those people who wouldn’t want Snipes to return as Blade, but instead want him to play a different role in the MCU you’re in luck. During the interview Snipes spoke on the possibility that he could wind up playing an entirely different role in the Marvel universe.

That’s a possibility too. I’ve always been a fan of these pieces and adaptations and I’d be nice to be a part of the family again. But if we don’t to a Blade 4 or something else with Marvel, we’ll do something else. We have some other characters and some other concepts that are going to be just as exciting and hopefully just as successful. The first season of The Player will be interesting as well because we have drama and action, which is what I like. It gives me a chance to do a number of different things.

I think Snipes still has the chops to deliver a good performance and watching The Expendables 3 showed me he’s still capable of fast paced action sequences, so I think he could still pull it off. What do you guys think? Would you want Snipes to return as Blade on the big screen or should they cast someone else? Sound off in the comments!
