Willem Dafoe Confirmed For ‘Aquaman’

With Justice League set to hit theatres in just over a year, people are already looking ahead to the DCEU after the team up movie has finished. One film set to follow Justice League is James Wan’s Aquaman. A couple of actors who will join Jason Momoa in the King of Atlantis’ solo film will show up in Justice League, including Amber Heard as Mera. Another is Willem Dafoe, who will be playing Vulko, a trusted advisor to Aquaman and Atlantean politician. How big a role Dafoe will have in either Justice League or Aquaman is still unknown. However, Dafoe was able to shed a little light on the situation during an interview with The Guardian.

Well, Justice League is very particular because it’s an ensemble movie and my character is being introduced here in order to be a principal role in Aquaman. These films are a different experience. They have different responsibilities, different resources and different intentions. It’s nice to go between those worlds if you can. They serve different impulses.

So it looks like Dafoe will have little more than a cameo in Justice League, before going on to play a major role in Aquaman.

Aquaman is set to hit theatres on July 26th 2018, and will be directed by James Wan. Justice League will be released November 17th 2017.

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
