New Look At Winona Ryder & Sean Astin In ‘Stranger Things 2’ Revealed

Stranger Things Sean Astin Winona RyderEmpire Magazine has revealed a new look at Winona Ryder alongside series newcomer Sean Astin, as well as Noah Schnapp in Stranger Things 2.

Both Ryder and Schnapp reprise their respective roles of Joyce Byers and Will Byers in the upcoming sequel season of the Netflix smash hit and the two and will be joined by Astin who plays Bob Newby, the manager of the local Hawkins RadioShack and new boyfriend to Joyce.

In the magazine’s latest issue, series creators Matt and Ross Duffer opened up about how they didn’t want the series to feel “kitschy or self-aware” with Astin’s casting, worried that it would “take you out of the world.” Astin also spoke on the Duffer Brothers’ apprehension to cast him in the role:

“Matt and Ross said they were really hesitant to hire me because of my ’80s cache. There is definitely a doff of the cap to that era, but it has to work on its own terms. Bob’s authentic and optimistic and responsible.”

The new image reveals a never before seen look at Joyce with Bob and Will who can be seen in a hospital bed (likely at the Hawkins lab) still dealing with the consequences of his time spent in the upside down. You can check it out below.
