Keanu Reeves dons the classic yellow and blue Wolverine costume to replace Hugh Jackman as the X-Men hero in a new concept design.
The artwork comes from a digital artist known as “Savagecomics” on Instagram, showing Keanu Reeves taking over the Wolverine role from Logan star Hugh Jackman. In the image, we see Keanu Reeves’ likeness implemented with the iconic yellow and blue Wolverine costume as seen in the comics and original animated series.
You can see Keanu Reeves replacing Hugh Jackman as Wolverine in the artwork below.
In the previous X-Men films, Hugh Jackman never donned the iconic yellow and blue costume Wolverine wears in the comics. Despite being teased in a cut scene from James Mangold’s The Wolverine, X-Men fans had to settle with a more earthly wardrobe for Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine.
Keanu Reeves is a common choice for fan-casting in roles for comic book movies whether they’re part of Marvel or DC. In recent years, Keanu Reeves has experienced a bit of a resurgence in Hollywood thanks to his John Wick film series. As one of the most in-demand action film stars in the industry, it is easy to understand why many fans want to see him in a superhero project — and it would certainly be interesting to see him as Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine successor.
Marvel Studios, which now holds the film rights to Wolverine and the X-Men following Disney’s acquisition of 21st Century Fox’s entertainment assets, confirmed plans to include mutants in the Marvel Cinematic Universe during its 2019 San Diego Comic-Con presentation. However, the studio is reportedly in no rush to introduce the X-Men to the MCU, meaning it will likely be some time before we learn who will replace Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.
Would you like to see Keanu Reeves replace Hugh Jackman as the new Wolverine? Regardless of whoever is cast, would you like to see the MCU use the classic yellow and blue suit in their films? Sound-off in the comments section!
