Wonder Woman Creator’s Biopic Is Fiction According To Family

Professor Marston & The Wonder WomenThe Wonder Woman creator biopic, Professor Marston & The Wonder Women, is fiction according to Christie Marston, the granddaughter of Dr. William Moulton Marston.

Professor Marston & The Wonder Women hit theatres this weekend and focuses on Professor Marston and his polyamorous relationship with his wife Elizabeth and mistress Olivia Bryne. Marston was responsible for creating the lie detector test as well as the hit-comic Wonder Woman, which was influenced by the two women in his life.

The narrative presented in the biopic is reportedly fictitious to the Marston estate, as Christie Marston took to Twitter to make it clear that the film is nothing more than a work of fiction.

The film has fared well critically but is expected to barely make a dent in the box office with an opening weekend gross between $2-4 million.

In a superhero origin tale unlike any other, the film is the incredible true story of what inspired Harvard psychologist Dr. William Moulton Marston to create the iconic Wonder Woman character in the 1940’s. While Marston’s feminist superhero was criticized by censors for her ‘sexual perversity’, he was keeping a secret that could have destroyed him. Marston’s muses for the Wonder Woman character were his wife Elizabeth Marston and their lover Olive Byrne, two empowered women who defied convention: working with Marston on human behavior research — while building a hidden life with him that rivaled the greatest of superhero disguises.

Directed by Angelia Robinson, the film stars Luke Evans, Rebecca Hall, Bella Heathcote, JJ Feild, Oliver Platt, and Connie Britton.
