’Wonder Woman’ Characters Cast Speculation

img 51

Late last night, it was all about Warner Bros’ Wonder Woman as Gal Gadot tweeted out a new official photo of her as the Amazon Princess with the studio fully announcing that principal photography was underway, revealing the entire cast of the film. Other than Chris Pine as Captain Steve Trevor, the press release doesn’t reveal who the other actors are playing which has us quite curious.

While it may be a while till we find out who they may be playing, that doesn’t mean that we can’t speculate so let’s go through some of the cast members and speculate who they might be playing. I’m going with the assumption that they are playing Wonder Woman related characters or even original characters. Once again, these ideas are just speculations.

Where you may have seen her before: The Princess Bride, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and House of Cards on Netflix.

What character may she play: With Nicole Kidman having supposedly passed on the “high-ranking Amazonian warrior” role that may or may not have been Hippolyta, someone like Wright might be playing the mother of Wonder Woman. However, with Circe possibly being in the film as well, Wright might be playing the villain instead. Either way, my money is on either one of these two characters, but more likely Hippolyta.

Danny Huston

Where you may have seen him before: X-Men Origin Wolverine, American Horror Story and Clash of the Titans.

What character may he play: With Ares being one of the possible two big baddies in Wonder Woman, someone like Huston would be a strong fit for that character. While X-Men Origins Wolverine wasn’t perhaps the most favorable of the X-Men films, Huston was quite good in the villainous role of William Stryker so I can totally envision him as a great DC baddie like Ares.

Where you may have seen her before: The Skin I Live In, Van Helsing.

What character may she play: While I’m not familiar with Anaya’s previous work, I wouldn’t be shocked to see her play a supporting character like Artemis. With Wonder Woman most likely featuring Diana’s home Themyscira, seeing allies like Artemis wouldn’t be that surprising.

Lucy Davis

Where you may have seen her before: Shaun of the Dead, The Office on BBC Two.

What character may she play: This is going real old school, but someone like Davis could be playing a re-imagined version of Wonder Woman’s best friend Etta Candy in the film. Maybe when Diana makes it to Man’s World, Etta is one of the first people she meets there and starts to befriend. She is a very old school character in the Wonder Woman mythology, but you never know.

Davis Thewlis

Where you may have seen him before: the Harry Potter films (Prisoner of Azkaban, Order of Phoenix, Half-Blood Prince and Death Hollows Part 1 & 2) and The Theory of Everything.

What character may he play: While we haven’t heard if he will actually appear in the film, we know that Zeus is the father of Wonder Woman as established in The New 52 and even executive producer Charles Roven mentioned it during Q&A last October when talking about Wonder Woman in this film. With someone as talented as Thewlis, he would be a great fit as father of Diana Prince and might just be in it very little. But it’s always possible that he might be playing an original character for all we know.

Ewen Bremner and Saïd Taghmaoui

Where you may have seen them before: Bremner in Jack the Giant Slayer, Exodus: God and Kings, Snowpiercer. Taghmaoui in American Hustle, The Missing.

What characters may they play: With Bremner and Taghmaoui, I think they are both playing originally created characters for Wonder Woman. We do know from recent reports that Taghamoui is playing one of the “good guys” and will be, based on the set photo he posted, be in the past.

Those are my speculations on who these actors could be playing, but hopefully soon some details on their characters will be revealed. Do you agree with some of these ideas? Who do you think these actors might be playing? Let us know in the comments below.

Wonder Woman is slated to come out on June 23, 2017.
