‘Wonder Woman 1984’ Set Photos Reveal A Lynda Carter Homage

Wonder Woman Lynda CarterThe first look at Gal Gadot in the highly anticipated Wonder Woman sequel, Wonder Woman 1984 came today via an official photo as well as a ton of leaked set photos.

What fans might not have noticed in the photos is Gadot’s costume design bearing a striking similarity to a look sported by Lynda Carter in the original Wonder Woman television series. Check out the comparison below!

Patty Jenkins returns to direct the sequel which follows Wonder Woman in 1984 during the Cold War as she faces off against the Soviet Union. Kristen Wiig stars as the sequel’s villain, Cheetah, based off of the Barbara Ann Minerva character from the comics. Narcos and Game of Thrones star Pedro Pascal has also joined the cast of the film in a key role. Chris Pine also returns as Steve Trevor.

In addition to directing, Jenkins will also co-write, and produce DC’s second female-led superhero film. The Expendables co-writer Dave Callaham has written the script based on a treatment developed by Jenkins and DC president and creative chief officer Geoff Johns.

Production on the project is currently underway with filming taking place in the United States and the United Kingdom.

Ben Affleck Batman DC Comics Characters As one of the DC’s most popular heroes, Batman has starred in quite a few films. After Christopher Nolan wrapped up his Dark Knight trilogy, the character was quickly reintroduced in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and was a key player in Justice League. The Caped Crusader is set to return in his own movie, potentially titled The Batman, with Matt Reeves, the director of Cloverfield and the last two Planet of the Apes movies, behind the camera.

At the moment, nothing is known about the film’s plot or who will appear, but with Batman in the title role odds are other key DC characters will appear. So far, Batman’s corner of the DC Universe hasn’t been explored too much, so there are still a lot of characters who can be introduced on the big screen. Batman’s gonna need some villains to fight, and allies to fight beside, so Matt Reeves needs to search through the back-issues and figure out who he wants to include.
