Having closed a deal to direct the second Wonder Woman film, Patty Jenkins will bring Diana back to the DC Extended Universe when the sequel arrives in theaters on December 13, 2019. In an interview with the Toronto Sun, Jenkins explained why she is excited to be part of Warner Bros. and DC’s shared cinematic universe.
Jenkins discussed how she is excited to see what each director will bring to their respective DCEU projects:
“There are a lot of great filmmakers around the DC universe and there are a lot of great characters. My favourite thing about the DC universe is some of these characters have been the greatest, most original superheroes for decades. I think there’s just exciting things to be done with them ahead and lots of different people that I’m excited about seeing. All of us are very different and we’re all going to do different things. So I can’t wait to see the variety, personally.”
Warner Bros. has prided itself on being a filmmaker-driven studio, granting creative freedom to the directors of DCEU projects. While fans will likely continue to debate the results of their model, few would argue with Jenkins’ claim that the filmmakers are working with some of the greatest comic book heroes of all-time.
The heroes of the DCEU will unite when Justice League arrives in theaters this fall.
Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
Directed by Zack Snyder, Justice League stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Amy Adams, Jesse Eisenberg, Amber Heard, Jeremy Irons, J.K. Simmons, Willem Dafoe, Connie Nielsen, Julian Lewis Jones and Ciarán Hinds.
Justice League will be released in theaters on November 17, 2017.

7 Wonder Woman Villains Perfect For Future Sequels
Now that Wonder Woman is officialy getting a sequel, it’s time to start fantasizing about what we’ll see in the character’s next cinematic solo outing and beyond. Wonder Woman has a rich rogues gallery that has transformed and grown alongside her as she’s become one of the world’s most iconic heroes.
Ares, the Greek god of war, was the main villain for Wonder Woman’s first outing, but DC is gonna need to shake things up for future projects. Diana Prince has already proved herself a terrific warrior in Batman v Superman when she took on Doomsday, so I’m excited to see who the creators want to throw at her next. She doesn’t need a full team beside her — Wonder Woman is warrior enough to defend the innocent from all types of threats.
