‘Wonder Woman’ Stars Tease Their Return In ‘Justice League’

Wonder Woman Justice LeagueDISCLAIMER: This Justice League article features a big spoiler from Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman – read at your own risk.

Wonder Woman just hit theaters a week ago, but we will be seeing Gal Gadot’s Diana Prince again later this year in Zack Snyder’s Justice League film. Diana won’t be the only Amazon that we’ll see in the movie this fall as Connie Nielsen is set to reprise the role of Queen Hippolyta, the mother of the iconic Amazon Princess.

In a recent interview with Los Angeles Times, Gadot, Nielsen as well as Robin Wright, who played General Antiope, chatted about the future of the Amazons in the DC Extended Universe. During the interview, they were asked if we will see more exploration of the mother-daughter relationship between Diana and Hippolyta. But interesting enough, we learned that Wright will be returning for Justice League too.

“Gadot: Of course; the mother and daughter relationship is always a beautiful but complex relationship. I think that there’s a lot more to explore.

Nielsen: And [Wright and I] got to do more in “Justice League” as well. As sisters as well. Kind of badass as well. We can’t say much, but …

Wright: And more of the story, you get some of the history.”

For those who have seen Wonder Woman at this point will recall that Antiope died during the big beach battle at Themyscira by a German soldier. With Wright mentioning that we will learn more of the history between Antiope and Hippolyta, we are most likely going to see flashbacks with her rather than Antiope suddenly being back alive.

“Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.”

Directed by Zack Snyder, Justice League stars Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman, Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Gal Gadot as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry/Aquaman, Ezra Miller as  Barry Allen/The Flash, Ray Fisher as Victor Stone/Cyborg, Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Amber Heard as Mera, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Connie Nielson as Queen Hippolyta and J.K. Simmons as Commissioner James Gordon.

Justice League opens in theaters on Friday, November 17.
