This summer Woody Harrselson will appear in the third installment of the rebooted Planet of the Apes film series. However, while audiences are anticipating watching the acclaimed actor face off against Caesar, fans have turned their attention to Harrelson’s confirmed role in the upcoming Han Solo Star Wars standalone film. While early reports on Harrelson’s character had indicated that he will play a mentor to the young Han Solo, Mashable held an interview with the actor where he confirmed previous reports in addition to sharing a few new details about the role.
Harrselson shared a small new detail about his role, but was reluctant to elaborate any further.
“I’m a mentor to Han, but I’m also a bit of a criminal. I don’t think I should say much more than that, because the Force is not allowing me.”
It is not too surprising that Han Solo would be mentored by a shady character, considering the smuggler has a history of interacting with questionable characters when we first met him in A New Hope. The question is, just how severe are the criminal acts of Harrelson’s character and will he remain a friend to young Han Solo?
Directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the film will also star Alden Ehrenreich as a young Han Solo, Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian and Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke as an unnamed female lead.
The yet-to-be-titled film is currently scheduled to be hit theaters on May 25, 2018, however rumors suggest the released date could be changed.
