Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is still playing in theaters, but the next spin-off set in a galaxy far, far away is currently gearing up to start shooting and could soon be making a pretty exciting addition to its cast.
Variety has revealed that Woody Harrelson is in early talks to join the Han Solo movie in a key role. According to the trade, Harrelson is Lucasfilm’s top choice to play the titular character’s mentor, a role similar to the one he had in The Hunger Games franchise.
The report adds that Disney and Lucasfilm wanted someone big for this role. Per The Hollywood Reporter’s Borys Kit, Christian Bale was one of the names floating around for the part, but Harrelson is definitely a solid choice.
Phil Lord and Chris Miller are directing the film, which will star Alden Ehrenreich as a young Han Solo and Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian. Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke is also on board, but her role is being kept under wraps.
Production on the the yet-to-be titled Han Solo movie should begin next month for a May 25, 2018 release, although that could change if recent reports are to be believed.
