The world premiere date for Star Wars: The Last Jedi has been revealed in an article from Variety.
The outlet revealed the world premiere date in an article on this year’s Oscar race while listing The Last Jedi as a potential contender:
“It’s also worth keeping an eye on Rian Johnson’s “Star Wars: The Last Jedi,” which Disney will world-premiere on Dec. 8.”
This means the premiere will be held exactly one week before The Last Jedi is released for general audiences. The date could potentially change as there has been no official word from Lucasfilm on when the premiere will take place.
A December 8 premiere date means fans may have to put in extra effort to avoid spoilers, though positive initial reactions to Episode VIII could also increase the level of excitement for the already highly-anticipated film.
Written and directed by Rian Johnson, Star Wars: The Last Jedi stars Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie, Andy Serkis, Laura Dern, Kelly Marie Tran and Benicio del Toro.
Star Wars: The Last Jedi will be released in theaters on December 15, 2017.
