Yesterday marked the 18th anniversary for X-Men, and fans have shared the many ways the superhero franchise has influenced their lives.
X-Men is a conflicting film. Critically, it was well-received at the time. Fans were just excited to see their favorite heroes on the silver screen depicted as legitimately cool characters, and it was nice to share the excitement with mainstream audiences. What followed afterward, however, is a point of tension for comic book fans. The use of black leather costumes instead of the vibrant blue and yellow costumes paved the way for a more down-to-earth portrayal of characters that were inherently quirky and offbeat. Soon, the X-Men franchise was known, and criticized, for what was perceived to be as being ashamed of the comic book origins the hit film had. Soon, Marvel Studios capitalized on this and began releasing their Marvel Cinematic Universe to incredible results, but nevertheless, this road was paved by X-Men.
18 years later, fans have come to express their admiration for the film and the influence it has had on their lives. Check out their tweets below!

#XMen18 one of the greatest classics! I love how this film paved the way for other heroes´films that we can see today. The cast of this movie is unique, specially #FamkeJanssen, I love her role in the first trilogy.

My favourite comic book characters. To me the X-MEN weren't just a tv show or characters on A page. They were people I could relate too when things got ruff for me personally. I love them and continue to forever. That's the power of writing ❤😘 https://t.co/1CR1kuJR2m

5 Reasons ‘Ant-Man And The Wasp’ Is The Perfect ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ Follow-Up
Marvel Studios released its 20th film with Ant-Man and the Wasp, and it was exactly the kind of movie they needed. After the dark, epic story that is Avengers: Infinity War, the studio badly needed a palette cleanser to keep audiences on board. Marvel sets out to make good movies every time, but they know they can’t have their heroes square-off against alien tyrants to save the world in every film.
Marvel’s newest and smallest movie was the right choice for the studio to follow-up Infinity War. A small-scale story packed full of heart, humor and entertaining action, Ant-Man and the Wasp is an exciting superhero movie and an intimate look at the power of relationships. Not only is it accessible for viewers who may not have seen every Marvel movie, but it is packed full of Marvel easter eggs for long-term comic book fans to get excited about!
