‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ Could Possibly Set The Stage For A Reboot Of ‘The Dark Phoenix Saga’

It’s no surprise that fans were not very happy with the version of The Dark Phoenix Saga that was forced into X-Men: The Last Stand. Even Bryan Singer, who had set up the story but went off to direct Superman Returns, has gone on record to say that he would have done things different.

With the introduction of a young Jean Grey and new timeline post-Days Of Future Past, could the X-Men team get another crack at the story? While speaking with IGN, writer Simon Kinberg commented on matter of rebooting the storyline.

“I think everything that hasn’t been told from First Class and Days of Future Past is up for grabs going forward, so it would absolutely be a story we could tell in a different way. We definitely explore how powerful [Jean Grey] is in this movie, and that can be something that is empowering and something that is dangerous.

Additionally, diredtor Bryan Singer mentioned that he would possibly be interested in doing “the full Phoenix story”. While he’s not entirely sure about idea of doing something that has already been done, “the idea of that brewing within her” definitely interests him and Singer hints that we “may find a piece of that in this movie.” Would you like to see Bryan Singer deliver upon the promise that we saw at the end of X2? I know I’m definitely interested. Bring on The Phoenix, the Shi’ar and all that comes with it. Let us know what you think in the comments below.
