This week we got the announcement that Simon Kinberg will be making his directorial debut with the next X-Men film, X-Men: Dark Phoenix. In addition to that, most of the cast members are returning and there is a chance we’ll be getting Jessica Chastain as the villainous Lilandra, the empress of the alien empire Shi’ar.
But it appears that X-Men: Dark Phoenix is adding a lot of new characters, including several mutants for the upcoming installment. That Hashtag Show revealed recently that the production is casting a total of sixteen new characters, with some being filled in leading and supporting capacity. According to That Hashtag Show, some of these names might be code names for actual comic book characters.
“[HIROSHI]: Male, Early- Mid 20s, Japanese, brash Tokyo punk kid with an attitude. Although Hiroshi is young, he can command the attention of a room and is always ready for a fight. Must be able to speak English fluently, but open to an accent (could be Japanese, British…)…LEAD. We are looking for an actor who is actually Japanese for this role.”
This could possibly be Shiro Yoshida a.k.a. Sunfire who started out as a villain in the mythology before becoming a hero. That Hashtag Show believes that this could be the route the film will take with Sunfire, should this indeed be him.
