Next year, Fox’s X-Men series will have a rare second chance to adapt one of the most iconic comic book storylines with X-Men: Dark Phoenix. The latest issue of Entertainment Weekly gives us our first real look at the hotly-anticipated superhero sequel.
Featuring many of the same mutant characters from Apocalypse, Dark Phoenix looks to take the franchise to new and exciting places (including outer space!), while continuing the saga of the young Professor X, Magneto and Mystique that began in X-Men: First Class.
The new images prominently feature Sophie Turner as Jean Grey, who will play a much larger role this time around as the film dives deeper into the Phoenix mythology that was teased at the end of Apocalypse.
In addition to familiar faces including James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence, the images reveal series newcomer Jessica Chastain as a mysterious shapeshifter villain who looks to use the Phoenix for her own personal gain.
