‘Y: The Last Man’ Series Cast Announced As Diane Lane & Barry Keoghan Join

Y Last Man FXFX has announced the cast of Michael Green and Brian K. Vaughan’s television adaptation of Y: The Last Man.

Justice League star Diane Lane and Dunkirk‘s Barry Keoghan have joined the cast of Y: The Last Man alongside Imogen Poots, Lashana Lynch, Juliana Canfield and Marin Ireland. Lane will portray Senator Jennifer Brown, a first-term junior senator whose willingness to put her personal ideals above politics has earned her a name for herself in political circles. Senator Brown is also the mother lead character Yorick Brown, the last surviving male on the planet, who will be portrayed by Barry Keoghan

Meanwhile, Imogen Poots will play a tough and confident EMT named Hero Brown while Lashana Lynch portrays a highly-professional Secret Service agent known as Agent 355. Brooklyn-based knife maker Beth – who forms a bond with Yorick – will be played by Juliana Canfield and Marin Ireland will bring the President’s senior assistant, Nora, to life.

Based on the Vertigo comic book series by Brian K. Vaughan, which told the story of a man and his pet monkey who both inexplicably survive the extinction of every mammal with a Y chromosome, the official synopsis of Y: The Last Man reads as follows:

“Y traverses a post-apocalyptic world in which a cataclysmic event has decimated every male mammal save for one lone human. The new world order of women will explore gender, race, class and survival.”

Michael Green and Aïda Mashaka Croal are on board as showrunners and executive producers while Melina Matsoukas is set to direct the pilot and executive produce the series.
