After Collider dropped their huge Green Lantern rumor, Latino Review expanded on that by adding a few tidbits on casting. One being, Chris Pine is up for the role of Hal Jordan and not Steve Trevor. The other, Tyrese is a likely candidate for the role of John Stewart after having big success with Furious 7.
For months Tyrese has been practically campaigning for the role on social media, posting numerous pieces of fan art of him as Green Lantern and his visit to Warner Bros. While at a listening party for the release of his latest album, he got a chance to speak with Entertainment Tonight about the recent Green Lantern rumors.
“There are certain things I can’t speak on, but I will say, however this works out, it’s definitely the fans’ fault. I was at home minding my own business and fans start creating these fan-made videos of me as Green Lantern and I looked into it. I’ve been a fan of the Green Lantern, I took the oath, and I had a meeting at Warner Bros. and certain things were said and talked about. We’ll just see what happens.”
Tyrese also pitched why he’d be a great choice for Green Lantern stating
“Listen, these muscles are here and they’re ready to be used, there are lot of people, domestically and internationally, who’s got love with your boy.”
And he’s not wrong he’s coming off the HUGE success that is Furious 7, which recently made its way to the number 3 spot on the all time box office chart. Furious 7 made 351 Million domestically and over a Billion internationally.
“I’m coming into this thing with some fans and some box office receipts behind my name and I say that proudly and humbly, I just think I deserve a shot at suiting up and becoming the Green Lantern.” The Actor/Signer told ET.
Every one knows that WB is planning to go guns blazing into SDCC this year and the rumor is they’ll announce a Green Lantern Corp movie along with the two actors playing Hal Jordan and John Stewart. So when he was asked if he was making an appearance at Comic-Con this year Tyrese teasingly said
“You never know, I might be there on the other side of an announcement. You never know.”
