Shazam Movie Zachary Levi DC

Zachary Levi’s Shazam is featured on the cover of Entertainment Weekly’s special Comic-Con issue.

San Diego Comic-Con officially kicks off this week and Shazam! is reportedly debuting its first official trailer at the event. Today, Entertainment Weekly revealed the cover for its special issue for the annual convention, giving fans a brand new look at Zachary Levi in costume as Shazam. See the cover below.

Details on the film’s plot are currently unknown. Most tellings of the comic book story follow an orphan child named Billy Batson who is granted the ability to become an adult hero with godlike powers by the ancient Wizard.

Disney star Asher Angel has been cast as the young Billy Batson, with Zachary Levi playing the titular superhero. Grace Fulton, Cooper Andrews, Jack Dylan Grazer, Ian Chen, Jovan Armand and Faithe Herman are also on board, with Mark Strong as the villainous Doctor Sivana, a frequent foe of Shazam who first appeared opposite the superhero in the pages of Whiz Comics back in 1940.

Directed by David F. Sandberg from a script written by Henry Gayden and Darren Lemke, Shazam! hits theaters on April 5, 2019. Keep an eye on Heroic Hollywood as more details on this project come out.
