Zack Snyder Clarifies that ‘Batman V. Superman’ is ‘Man of Steel 2’

There have been multiple rumors, speculations, and thoughts about the possibility of a sequel to 2013’s Man of Steel for some time. Even when the film came out people were speculating a sequel and then when news hit that Batman would be included in a sequel fans were surprised, but even more surprised when the title of the film was announced as Batman V Superman  essentially stating that this would be it’s own entity. Over the past several months there have been rumors about who would direct and work on a Man of Steel 2, but this speculation may not turn out to be exactly true according to director Zack Snyder.

In a recent interview with Zack Snyder with Canoe he stated:

I think in a way Batman v Superman is Man of Steel 2

Zack also reflects on how a Superman movie would be done considering his upcoming Justice League films:

Justice League is kind of the transcendent, knights-of-the-round-table of the story. It’d be interesting to think about what a standalone Superman movie might be.

He then continued on his thoughts about the Justice League two part film.

We really have to figure out the why of them. And I think that we have. That’s the one thing that’s cool to me about Batman v Superman, it’s all about the mythology of these two massive icons. And I think that’s compelling

It seems as if in his eyes Batman V Superman is the actual sequel to Man of Steel, which is interesting considering all of the rumors.

What do you think of his comments? Would you see another standalone Superman film? Let us know your thoughts!
