2013’s Man of Steel feels like a lifetime ago now that the DC Extended Universe is picking up steam, and it’s easy to forget that that’s where it all began. Well, Zack Snyder certainly doesn’t forget. He recently uploaded a polaroid of Henry Cavill’s very first time wearing the Superman suit.
Zack Snyder has been quite active on an app called Vero, often sharing behind-the-scenes treats for fans of the DC Extended Universe, even including concept art from Justice League that never made it to the final cut (this could be the results of the extensive reshoots or perhaps just the natural editing process that goes into pre-production on any film). Have a look at the earliest image of Henry Cavill as Superman.
It’s even lit like a Zack Snyder film.
Now with the backlash that Justice League (not to mention Henry Cavill’s CGI upper lip) received for trying to pander too much to a Marvel tone, will the DC Extended Universe attempt to return to it’s darker, grittier roots and forge ahead? With Zack Snyder said to still be heavily involved in the universe’s creative direction, it could very well be the latter.
Superman can currently be seen along the rest of the super friends in last year’s Justice League.
Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
Directed by Zack Snyder, with post-production duties handled by Joss Whedon, Justice League stars Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Ray Fisher, Amy Adams, Jesse Eisenberg, Amber Heard, Jeremy Irons, J.K. Simmons, Connie Nielsen, Julian Lewis Jones and Ciarán Hinds.
Justice League is now available on Digital HD, 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray, Blu-ray 3D Combo Pack, and DVD.
