The second half of The Flash season three is expected to deal with Barry trying to prevent the death of Iris by Savitar, something that we know will happen at some point in the future. However, this doesn’t mean that we won’t see any other villains.
We’ve known for a while now that Gorilla Grodd would eventually return to the show, but we weren’t sure when. Now, David Sobolov — who voices the character — has confirmed that Grodd will be back in 2017, though that’s all he would reveal at this time.

During a panel at the TCA Press Tour this past August, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg revealed that Grodd would have a multi-episode arc when he’s back. He also said that these episodes would take place in Gorilla City.
“Yes, we’re going to be doing a two-part episode that takes place in Gorilla City.”
Grodd has been mentioned quite a few times in season three, but he was last seen in the seventh episode of season two, titled “Gorilla Warfare.” That episode saw the telepathic gorilla kidnapping Caitlin after returning to Central City, but later being defeated by Barry and the rest of the team by being shoved into a breach.
The Flash returns to The CW on January 24th.
