Matt Damon Open For More Jason Bourne Films With Paul Greengrass

As 'Jason Bourse' opens, actor Matt Damon remains open to the possibility of more films featuring the iconic action movie character

Matt Damon Jason Bourne

As Jason Bourse opens this weekend (to a promising $60 million), there’s already talks about yet another film surrounding the character. The current film is actor Matt Damon’s fourth appearance as the titular character. The only Bourne film which he hasn’t appeared in was The Bourne Legacy, which featured Jeremy Renner as the lead. Needless to say, fans really like Matt Damon in the lead and there’s already chatter about doing yet another Bourne film. When asked if he would do yet another film, here’s what he had to say.

“Yeah. It’s definitely open. If there’s a story to tell, and we think people want to hear it, then who knows?”

Besides the story, Matt Damon wants director Paul Greengrass to return as well. Greengrass was the director for The Bourne Supremacy, The Bourne Ultimatum and now Jason Bourne. Greengrass has also worked with Damon on Green Zone. The two really enjoy working together.

“I’m tied to Paul, whatever he wants to do. We’re friends, so it would always come up in conversation. We didn’t want to dive into one unless we could make a movie that fit in that family and felt worthy. It’s kind of deceptively tricky, and so I think we were just leery of making it look like a job that was taken on cynically by any of us. To have made three of them that we loved, it just felt like we should live well enough alone unless we could make a good one.”

Another factor is related to Matt Damon being able to get into “Bourne-shape.” The 45-year-old actor also confirms that as time passes the ability to get in the necessarily bulky shape proves difficult, but not impossible.

Jason Bourse opens this weekend in theaters nationwide.
