New Spider-Man Footage In ‘Captain America: Civil War’ TV Spot

In a surprising move, Marvel Studios has packaged brand new footage of Spider-Man in a random TV spot two weeks before Captain America: Civil War hits theaters.

Spider-Man swings into frame, kicking Falcon into a wall before catching a punch thrown by Bucky. “You have a metal arm? That is awesome dude!,” remarks Spidey. Bucky looks completely baffled by the kid in spandex going toe-to-toe with him.

Excluding the spectacular footage of Spider-Man, the TV spot mostly contains critic reviews and snippets of footage we’ve seen in previously released trailers and TV spots for the film.

The complex licensing deal arranged by Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures left Spider-Man out of the majority of Captain America: Civil War‘s marketing up until the second and final theatrical trailer released in early March provided fans a first look at the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s own famous web-slinger played by Tom Holland.

Captain America: Civil War is receiving rave reviews, with many critics calling Tom Holland’s Peter Parker/Spider-Man a scene stealer and the best portrayal of the character adapted to film yet. This positive word of mouth should carry over to Spider-Man’s first solo outing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Spider-Man: Homecoming, scheduled for release on July 7th, 2017. Sony Pictures could use the goodwill with fans after The Amazing Spider-Man 2‘s disappointing results.

Holland wont be the only cast member of Captain America: Civil War in his solo. Marisa Tomei will of course reprise her role of Aunt May Parker, and Robert Downey Jr. will return as Tony Stark/Iron Man for his eighth appearance in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Zendaya Coleman, Tony Revelori, and Laura Harrier are also in line to co-star in the film. Michael Keaton was in talks for a villain role, but talks broke down.

Captain America: Civil War hits theaters May 6, 2016.
