Green LanternFast and Furious star Tyrese Gibson has taken to Instagram to tease his possible involvement in the upcoming Green Lantern Corps.

The now long in development Green Lantern Corps is rumored to be a buddy-cop movie with an older, experienced Hal Jordan aka Green Lantern training the young recruit John Stewart in the ways of the Corps. Heroic Hollywood editor-in-chief Umberto Gonzalez first broke the scoop that a member of the Corps would first be introduced later this year in the epic superhero team-up Justice League directed by Zack Snyder so it’s possible we could first see either of the two in the fall.

Gibson himself has been rumored for the part of John Stewart for several years and has met with Warner Bros. while also campaigning for the role on his own. The latest tease from the actor hints that he may have actually landed the role as Stewart. You can check it out below.

While it’s clear Gibson would love to play the part of Stewart, Idris Elba has unquestionably been the fan favorite pick, however, both Trevante Rhodes and Mahershala Ali have also been mentioned as possible contenders, either of which would be a hot choice for the studio coming off the success of Moonlight.

Common, who was set to play John Stewart in George Miller’s scrapped Justice League project has also stated that he would still love to play Stewart. In addition, Sterling K. Brown made it clear back in January that he’s interested in the part as well.

As for Gibson’s post itself, it’s important to keep in mind that the image he shared is of John Stewart in the upcoming Injustice 2 video game from DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Interactive which will be available on both PS4 and Xbox One beginning next week on May 16 so it’s possible Gibson is just getting hyped for the game.

Green Lantern Corps will be written by David Goyer and Justin Rhodes, with Geoff Johns set to executive produce. The film is expected to hit theaters in 2020.
