NYCC ’16: ’12 Monkeys’ Season 3 Trailer Released

The trailer for the third season of the Syfy series, 12 Monkeys, has been released. The series, based on the 1995 film starring Bruce Willis, premiered on Syfy in January of 2015. The show had a slow and mixed start during its first season, before things kicked up for season 2. Now, fans of the show finally have their first look at the third season.

During NYCC this weekend, Syfy released the first trailer for 12 Monkeys Season 3 on YouTube. Starring Aaron Stanford and Amanda Schull, 12 Monkeys centers on a time traveler from the year 2043 who goes back in time to stop the spreading of a deadly virus that kills most of the earth’s population.

The third season of 12 Monkeys is set to air on Syfy sometime next year, with Stanford and Schull returning. Season 3 will consist of 10 episodes, and continue Stanford’s character as he tries to get to the bottom of the cause of the deadly future virus.

The trailer shows a post-apocalyptic world in the year 2163, with off-screen characters speaking, mentioning “The Witness”, a mysterious character in the series. You can watch the 12 Monkeys Season 3 trailer below, and make sure to check out season 3 when it premieres on Syfy in 2017!

12 Monkeys follows the journey of a time traveler from the post-apocalyptic future who appears in present day on a mission to locate and eradicate the source of a deadly plague that will nearly destroy the human race.
