2oth Century Fox has delayed the release of Maze Runner: The Death Cure. It was initially set for a January 12, 2018 release and will now open in theaters on February 9, 2018. The film had already been delayed after actor Dylan O’Brien was injured on set and the film’s production had to be completely shut down for several months. A one month difference in release dates doesn’t seem that bad, especially since February is a much better month for films in comparison to January.
Maze Runner: The Death Cure is the third and final film of the franchise, which have been adapted from the successful young adult series by author James Dashner. In the film, the lead character, Thomas, played by O’Brien, is on the hunt for the cure that will stop people from changing and becoming zombies.
The last Maze Runner film, titled Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials, came out in 2015, so by the time the final installment rolls around, it would have been a few years. The first two films made a decent amount of money worldwide and since the final movie will be released in February, it’s sure to make some kind of splash.
Maze Runner: The Death Cure also stars Nathalie Emmanuel, Giancarlo Esposito, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, and Kaya Scodelario.
Today, 20th Century Fox has also announced that The Predator has been delayed and has given New Mutants, Deadpool 2, and X-Men: Dark Phoenix release dates.
