Aaron Pierre will reprise his role as Green Lantern John Stewart in Man of Tomorrow, the upcoming sequel to Superman. Veteran entertainment reporter Jeff Sneider first reported the casting before it was later confirmed by The Hollywood Reporter. Pierre is set to make his debut as the charcater in the upcoming DC Studios series Lanterns on HBO.
Man of Tomorrow is written and directed by DC Studios co-head James Gunn and will continue the story launched in 2025’s Superman. Production is expected to begin this summer in Atlanta as DC Studios expands the next phase of its shared universe.
The cast of Man of Tomorrow continues to grow
David Corenswet returns as Superman, while Nicholas Hoult reprises his role as Lex Luthor. The story will see the longtime rivals forced to confront a larger threat in the form of Brainiac, a technologically advanced alien villain. German actor Lars Eidinger has been cast to play Brainiac.
Several actors from Superman are also set to return. Rachel Brosnahan will again play Lois Lane, with Skyler Gisondo back as Jimmy Olsen and Sara Sampaio returning as Eve Teschmacher. The sequel will also feature the return of other heroes, including Hawkgirl, played by Isabela Merced, and the villainous Engineer, portrayed by Maria Gabriella de Faria.
Pierre will first appear as John Stewart in Lanterns, DC Studios’ first live-action television series connected to the new DC Universe. The show is scheduled to debut in August, with Pierre co-starring opposite Kyle Chandler, who plays the Hal Jordan version of Green Lantern.
Aaron Pierre gained wider recognition for his performance in the 2024 Netflix thriller Rebel Ridge, directed by Jeremy Saulnier. He also appeared on Apple TV’s The Morning Show and provided voice work in Mufasa: The Lion King, as well as the animated project GOAT.
