Sony Taps ‘Avengers’ Star Aaron Taylor-Johnson For ‘Kraven The Hunter’

Avengers: Age of Ultron star Aaron Taylor-Johnson is set to play the Spider-Man villain in the upcoming Kraven the Hunter solo film from Sony.

Sony is developing several Marvel projects of their own with Venom: Let There Be Carnage and Morbius on the way. We’ve also known that Sony is working on a solo film centered on Kraven the Hunter, and that project has now found its star. The studio announced on Wednesday Avengers: Age of Ultron star Aaron Taylor-Johnson will play the Spider-Man villain in the upcoming Sony-Marvel project.

In addition to Aaron Taylor-Johnson playing the famed Spider-Man foe, Kraven the Hunter will be helmed by J.C. Chandor, best known for A Most Violent Year and Triple Frontier. The script for Kraven the Hunter comes from Art Marcum, Matt Holloway, and Richard Wenk. Longtime Spider-Man producers Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach are attached to the film as producers.

According to Deadline’s Justin Kroll, Sony also approached Keanu Reeves, John David Washington, Brad Pitt and Adam Driver for the role of Kraven. Aaron Taylor-Johnson landed the role after impressing Sony executives with his work on Bullet Train.
