Villain Orson Krennic (Ben Mendelsohn) takes center stage for much of the Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. However, it is Darth Vader who–in his short came– is around just enough to make a significant impact and evoke nostalgia among fans. James Earl Jones has returned to voice Vader, just as he did in the original Star Wars movies. But the question on everyone’s mind is, which actor donned the Vader costume? Standing tall at 6-feet 7-inches tall, Welsh actor Spencer Wilding fills in the Vader costume in Rogue One. His name may not be familiar to the movie-going audience, but he is no stranger to the movie business. He’s also appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy, Jupiter Ascending, and has made multiple appearances in the Dr. Who television show.
Daniel Naprous is credited as a stunt performer and receives an acting credit for Rogue One. He’s amassed a healthy body of work to include Game of Thrones, Prometheus, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, and Children of Men. His most recent work will include performing stunts on the set of Wonder Woman and Kingsmen: The Golden Circle. Both Wilding and Naprous did great under the cape and brought their own flair to the role. What matters is the fans are satisfied.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is now playing in theaters. Directed by Gareth Edwards, Rogue One stars Felicity Jones, Diego Luna, Ben Mendelsohn, Donnie Yen, Mads Mikkelsen, Alan Tudyk, Riz Ahmed Jiang Wen and Forest Whitaker. Stay tuned for more news from the Star Wars universe!
