Adam Driver’s Kylo Ren confronts Emperor Palpatine in a new clip from Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

The Star Wars sequel trilogy has partly centered on conflict within Adam Driver’s Kylo Ren, the son of Han Solo and Leia Organa, who turned to the dark side and eventually rose to the rank of Supreme Leader of the First Order. While Adam Driver’s Kylo Ren will undoubtedly prove to be an antagonist force in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, the young villain will also be joined by Ian McDiarmid’s Emperor Palpatine, who seems to have found a way to survive being defeated by Darth Vader in Return of the Jedi.

Now, Disney has released a new Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker clip in which Adam Driver’s Kylo Ren confronts the seemingly disembodied voice of Emperor Palpatine. The clip opens with Adam Driver’s Kylo Ren arriving on a new planet and making his way to an underground lair, where a combination of Emperor Palpatine, Snoke, and Darth Vader’s voices informs the conflicted youth that they have been “every voice” he has ever heard inside of his head.
