Avengers: Infinity War is poised to have an incredible ensemble cast of heroes within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This culmination of the entire franchise will find Earth’s Mightiest Heroes teaming up with the Guardians of the Galaxy to fight against Thanos (Josh Brolin). But will one of the characters joining in on the fight be none other than Adam Warlock?
*SPOILER ALERT FOR GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY VOL. 2*
During the film’s third post-credits sequence, we see Ayesha (Elizabeth Debicki) discussing her intentions to defeat the Guardians. We see a cocoon, in which Ayesha names “Adam”. This was obviously a reference to Adam Warlock.
During a Facebook Live session discussing Vol. 2 in spoiler-filled detail, James Gunn revealed that we won’t be seeing Adam Warlock in Avengers: Infinity War:
Adam Warlock will not be in Infinity War … he will have a future in the MCU. But will it be in Infinity War? It will not.
Seeing Adam Warlock alongside the Guardians in Avengers: Infinity War would have been really cool, but if Gunn’s comments are any indication, perhaps its best for Adam to sit this one out and be prepared for his introduction in Vol. 3.
