Chernobyl star Alex Ferns has joined the cast of Matt Reeves’ The Batman, Heroic Hollywood has confirmed.
As Matt Reeves’ The Batman begins to ramp up filming, its cast continues to be rounded out by heavyweights. Alex Ferns, best known for his role as the leader of the Tula coal miners in 2019’s smash-hit Chernobyl, will be playing Commissioner Pete Savage in Matt Reeves’ take on the iconic Caped Crusader. The Batman will be Alex Ferns’ first high-profile role since he and the Chernobyl cast shook the world in the five-part miniseries, which won Outstanding Limited Series at the Emmys.
Earlier this week, a listing on IMDB appeared stating that Chernobyl star Alex Ferns would be a part of the Batman cast. Since then, Heroic Hollywood has been able to confirm that the Chernobyl star is joining Matt Reeves for the next film in the Batman franchise. Not much information is known about Chernobyl star Alex Ferns’ role in The Batman other than the fact that he’ll be playing a character known as Commissioner Pete Savage.
Chernobyl star Alex Ferns will more than likely be sharing screentime with Jeffrey Wright, who joined the Matt Reeves production earlier this year as Jim Gordon. With such a stacked, diverse cast, The Batman continues to impress with its choices. Arguably one of the most anticipated films of 2021, Matt Reeves’ The Batman is set to deliver a fresh take on the legend of the Dark Knight. With a younger, more edgier cast and a director who has horror-roots, The Batman could become one of this decade’s most inspired blockbusters.

Full plot details on The Batman are currently under wraps, though the film will center around a younger Bruce Wayne and feature a Rogues’ Gallery of villains that includes Catwoman, The Penguin, and The Riddler. The Matt Reeves film will follow Batman during his formative years as Gotham City’s protector and will make use of the Dark Knight’s detective skills to a greater extent than previous DC films. It is expected to be the first chapter in a new trilogy with Robert Pattinson as Batman.
Directed by Matt Reeves from a script he co-wrote with Mattson Tomlin, The Batman stars Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as the Riddler, Jeffrey Wright as Commissioner James Gordon, Jayme Lawson as Bella, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, Colin Farrell as the Penguin, Alex Ferns, and Peter Sarsgaard.
The Batman will be released in theaters on June 25, 2021.
